As a multimedia artist and guest researcher for the Amazonias: Ancestral Future exhibition at the Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona, I created an immersive audiovisual experience that guided the audience through the diverse geographies of the Amazon. Combining storytelling, music, and visual projections, the experience brought to life the landscapes of the Amazon, emphasising how sound can reveal unique geographies.
The decision to explore Amazonian territories through sound stems from the belief that music is a universal language, often serving as a meeting point between cultures and histories. Just as reggae allows us to experience the streets of Kingston or samba introduces us to Rio de Janeiro, the aim of this project was to invite the audience to visit the Amazon through its sound. The culture, landscape, and places become the backdrop for the musical construction, with music serving as a vehicle to uncover and explore the geography of the Amazon.
This project was developed in partnership with the audiovisual project Altar Sonoro.
